Little Sample sound was originally launched in Trilanwy, Jamaica in 1999 with close connections to Mop Head (Killaman Jaro) & Interseptre Sound.

In August 2003 the sound was relaunched in the UK with sound members Nicky P, Iceman, Bashment, Big Mac & Mad Dawg & the whole Trilawny Empire Family.

In 2004 Sample entered ‘Defened Your Endz – Winner Takes All’ our first sound clash against sounds like Will Powa, Play Maker, Rootsman & others. In the same year we were invited to Manchester to be rewarded for all our hard work juggling at numerous dances, gaining the title of the North’s no.1 Juggling Sound 2004. During the year appearing alongside names like Tony ‘Mentally Ill’ Matterhorn, Black Kat (JA), Robbo Ranx (1Xtra), the world famous Stone Love, Bass Odessey (JA) & Others. Building a big reputation throughout the UK, Sample was always the first choice sound to feature alongside artists like the 2003 UK debut of Vybz Kartel (check Bookings Album), Baby Cham, Busy Signal, Chuck Fender, Spice, Assassin, Voicemail & many more.

In August 2005 Sample was once again entered into the ‘Winner Takes All’ Northern Sound clash heat, ‘Road To London’ (Link us for the full dance on CD). This time against the 2004 UK Cup Champions, Classique (Manchester) & Dicer Movements (Huddersfield). Sample won this in the one fi one shoot out with Classique. Doing this Sample made sound history being the first Huddersfield sound ever to acheive this level. In December of the same year Sample went on to to be the only sound to represent the north of England in London at the ‘Road To The Worldclash – Winner Takes All UK Heat’. There they took on the likes of King Tubby’s, Immortal, 4×4 Xtasy & many more.

Since then Sample has defended their title against various sounds around the country one on one as it was in the original sound days. Unlike most UK sounds there is only a handful of sounds who are prepared to clash with a sound one on one like the good old days of Jaro, Black Kat, King Addies & the like. Sample does beleive if a sound cannot clash one on one that they should even venture into the dancehall with dub. Sample is fully loaded to play pure dubplate from 10pm til 6am, just ask Jah Man (Wolverhampton), Natural Affair (Telford) & Immortasl (Birmingham). Like we said there’s just a handful of us sounds in the UK so why not enter the ring…
