Sound Business is a business I love and appreciate and would do almost anything to see it’s progress. There are a lot of people and Sounds that sit and wait for something to happen and do nothing themselves and expect the world, in the interim criticize a man’s works while they do not one f**k. I started playing Sound at age 14 and I’ve never regretted any moment in it, I’ve made mistakes and bad decisions at times but every experience I’ve used it to improve myself.
I’ve been a part of TEK 9 MOVEMENTS a little over 2 years after staying away from the business for over years while pursuing other endeavors. I’ve taken the opportunity given to me by my Sound Owner / Boss, Fadda Tek, to represent the Sound to the fullest and ensure our voice is heard globally. Not to pat my own shoulder but I think I’ve done well after staying away from the business for a good while prior to my return.
Being a part of TEK 9 MOVEMENTS some may not know but I’ve clashed approximately thirteen Sounds under my 3 years, won some lost one. But I say this with no apology, no Sound have have ever killed me while representing the Sound, I’ve lost battles but never lost a war. Locally, in Trinidad & Tobago, I’ve clashed X Caliber, Black Talon, Audio Menace, Element One, Hi Phonics, Taurus Movement & unofficially Earthquake, People Station, Almighty and Yung Gunz, I came out the winner in 8 out of those 10 match ups in addition to warring to of those Sounds mentioned twice which I both won. Internationally I’ve clashed Sentinel, Black Kat and Sound Trooper which I lot all battles but put up a good fight and proved as a new selector can represent well on an international level. To date although under 3 years being a part of TEK 9 MOVEMENTS I’ve proven to be the only Trinidadian to date that have clashed so many Sounds locally and internationally since Matsimela and former King Addies selector Lion Face.
It was a very sad time in my camp when we lost one of our brothers earlier this year Jovan Rouse aka PRETTY RICK. I promised Fadda Tek that despite our loss we’ll continue to rise and not relax as this is what RICK would have wanted.
Since I’ve been a part of TEK 9 MOVEMENTS I’ve taken part or helped in every promotion in Trinidad & Tobago that I found beneficial to the development of the Sound Culture. Rebuilding the business is hard not only because a lot of the Sounds are ignorant and arrogant but there are bad minded or player hater individuals that try by all means to hinder progress by their negative and non-supportive actions.
TEK 9 MOVEMENTS I would say don’t pick and choose battles unless the challenge doesn’t make dollars or sense. Nuff Sounds cut dubs and they are basically dub collectors, they do nothing good or of worth with it. Not to call names but I know of a Sound in Trinidad that has dubs from Garnet Silk and Nitty Gritty and still waiting on the correct time to make a mark in the business, what are they waiting on ? the return of Christ ? Smh.
Despite all the negative impact towards my movements in the business I still keep focus with my eyes on the prize, I not only fight for the Sound Business because of my personal love of it but because I want to see it at it’s peak again and live on for the younger generation to love as well.
There’s an upcoming generation that have no knowledge of Sound Business or what is even a dub plate, I blame mainly the f**kry dancehall that have been released in abundance recently. Not to point fingers but we know who the artist are.
Big up the Warlord Bounty Killer my favorite deejay of all time for keeping it real. Respect Slaughter from X Caliber Sound in Trinidad, they say self praise is no recommendation but apart from him I see myself as the only two Trini selectors representing on a international level and proving to the world the that Trinidad has talent.
Rest in peace to the Legendary Squingy my favorite selector of all time and also to Pantha and Ricky Trooper for continually representing for years, two individuals I’ve have personal conversations with and gotten good advice from.
As TEK 9 MOVEMENTS approaches 3 years in Trinidad & Tobago I plan to make giant steps under the guidance of Fadda Tek and raise the level of my games as I have a couple big international match ups before the year is out which I promise to leave memorable performances and make my mark on an international level.
Respect my TEK 9 family globally, Fadda Tek is the most honest, genuine and helpful Sound Owner I’ve ever worked with he’s more of Family to me right and with his authority I promise to make our Sound one of the most respectable all round sounds in the World.
